I met a dynamo of a woman recently who owns 4 Internet companies that serve to help us with our personal and broader visions. As a Law of Attraction practitioner, she brings together business and charity by creating venues of activity that have a global impact.
Years of being involved in fundraising instilled a deep passion in her to change the way it is done - to create ongoing funding for organizations and businesses.
She believes that we cannot out-give the Universe and has created her companies to offer free resources designed to empower others to begin changing their world, one action at a time. Most recently she has launched Together We Can Change the World DAY which mobilizes and connects people across the U.S. on the first Saturday of each month to make a difference in their communities and the world.
She didn't talk about herself at all, but talked mostly about her fabulous fellow co-creators, her wonderful web designer and more. When I asked her if there was a bio I could refer to, she answered "I used to write under a pen name because I've never wanted to be famous". And now she's a household name. Too late! And all because she's convinced that individuals in a powerful team, can save the world. Any race, any philosophy, any religion - any individual.
Okay, not all at once. That's exactly the point.
I recently read an interview with Brad Pitt and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, in Vanity Fair. Archbishop Tutu describes Ubuntu: "Ubuntu is the essence of being human....We say a person is a person through other persons. You can't be human in isolation. You are human only in relationships".
There are various charity sites I've found, that offer percentages of your shopping to certain organizations that relieve strife and hunger around the world. These are a wonderful opportunity for those of us who feel like we just don't have time to figure out how to be involved in helping. We work hard to keep our family economic units intact, and study after hours to upgrade our credentials in order to excel in our changing work forces.
This type of power spending is a smarter way to spend. Shop for the things your household and business needs, get a rebate or some other advantage, and have the company give a percentage to a charity.
As consumers we have the power. We can choose where to shop, boycott unscrupulous retailers, and promote by word of mouth where the best deals are.
'How to save the world' has often been the butt of jokes, like anyone who wants to has a deluded complex of some sort. On the level of personal obsessive compulsion with no action, this is indeed a truth.
But when people enter into large organizations and create powerful teams, then enter the banking arena to effect the most expedient way to spend their money, there will be global impact.
