One night a few years ago, I was reading "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill. His work is inspiring and incredibly insightful and I must admit, even these days I get a rush reading that book. I also like a pretty old book called Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. It truly is a classic and is severely under valued as a literary work.
I am one of those people that always knew that working in a job for a living was never going to be sustainable for me. I am easily bored and I can't help notice the incredible unfairness of getting paid a few dollars an hour, while the company makes 10 times that from my labor. Anyway, I guess I was born a capitalist at heart.
Fast and easy money is not what I am about. My understanding about wealth creation over the years has become more sophisticated. If you think about it...really focus on what is important about money, you will realize that it is not the actual money that is important, but what that money represents. The money itself is just printed paper.
The word is value...or worth. The good news is worth is free. Value is created out of thin air. Value is created with not just materials, but ideas and materials. Value is designed and not made with the hands.
When you create wealth, what you are actually doing is creating value or worth, that others find valuable or desire-able. So much so that they are willing to pay money for what you have created. I hope this small insight makes you think. It really did make me think.
